Hive-top feeder failure

The hive top feeders are still pretty full though the weather has been warm enough for syrup collecting. There are a lot of yellow jackets floating in them, no bees though. I saw a hornet walking around the outside of one of the feeders INSIDE the shim! Shudder.

I may go back to the quart jars until I figure this out. I read about stapling batting to the inside cover to seal the edges of the hive tip feeder, I may use that as a starting point…

I updated the last post with close-ups of my girls cleaning drinking my mess. 🙂
